In This House

We started here, on the third floor. Bedroom just big enough for our double bed, carpet in the kitchen and bathroom, and no space to move without bumping into each other. Perfect for newlyweds.

Then we moved here. Wood-burning stove the only alternative to expensive baseboard heaters, authentic '70s orange shag carpet, and Jane's first home.

Our last stop in Logan was here. It was our step up to two bathrooms, a walk-in closet, and our own garden. Close friends only four doors down. It was Megan's first home.

And then we achieved our dream of being homeowners.

In this house, we worked hard to make our life what we wanted it to be.

In this house, we built block towers.

In this house, we entertained many friends.

In this house, we survived surgeries and broken bones.

In this house, we experienced the wonder of being outside.

In this house, we experienced the joys that came inside.

In this house, we celebrated anniversaries and birthdays.

In this house, we welcomed our son into his first home.

In this house, we learned the meaning of sadness, trauma, and depression. In this house, we learned the power of taking charge of our own happiness. In this house, we learned what it means to be a family.

Today, we sold this house.

The papers are signed, the keys are handed over. This house belongs to someone else now.

I miss the backyard, I miss the dishwasher, I miss having a playroom, I miss all our friends and family. But all the important things came to Albuquerque with me.

Here's to the end of that chapter.

You kind of made me want to cry. :) that was a fun recap of all your houses though. I think the thing that made me the saddest is thinking I can't just come visit you there anymore!

Wow, that was a powerful post, full of a lot of memories. I love the pictures.

It is so hard and sad to let go of something special, but I am so happy for you that the house sold.
