One of the HUGE perks of Albuquerque--that we may or may not lose when we move for grad school--is how close we are to the temple. Less than five minutes. That's as close as we've ever been, and closer than we were in Salt Lake. So cool, especially outside of Utah.
Jane got a glass cube for her birthday that is etched with the Draper temple, which she often visited with Grandma Karrie. She had been carrying it around a lot and talking about how much she missed the temple, so we took a family outing to our new temple on Sunday afternoon.
It was fun to walk around the small temple, and let the kids touch the outside walls. I love that they want to be near the temple, even when they don't yet know just how important it truly is.
Of course, let's not underestimate the importance of the fountain, either.
Especially in January, in below freezing temperatures, when most places don't have a fountain going.
The downside to that, by the way, is the ice covering large chunks of ground surrounding the fountain. Just ask Megan and the bruises on the palms of her hands.

How fun. That is impressive you ended up so close to the temple.
That's wonderful. That temple is very beautiful. I'm so glad that you are still close to a temple.
