Sleepover with Mom

Back in June, I had my worst vomit-related parenting experience yet (click here). Last night was a semi-repeat, with a few very distinct differences.

Jane first woke me up at 12:30 last night, crying very loudly in a very obvious something-is-wrong kind of way. I went into her bedroom to learn that she had thrown up in her sleep, all over herself and her bed. Not wanting to wake up Megan, I didn't turn on the lights and instead had Jane walk into the bathroom. Not the best idea ever. Then it was spread all over the floor...

In June, I had to handle everything on my own. Last night, I was able to fulfill Jane's request and had Dad come to give her a bath and wash her hair while I changed all the sheets on her bed. That was a good difference.

After Jane's bath and getting her tucked back into bed, Chris and I went to bed, too. About half an hour later, I heard Jane again. She had thrown up, again.

In June, I ran out of clean pajamas, clean blankets, and clean bowls because everything was packed to move. Last night, Jane had a whole pile of blankets to throw up on, plenty of pajamas, and a nice light-weight bowl in which to throw up. That was a good difference.

About an hour later, she threw up again. Sigh. Chris had to be up at 4:45 to go to the temple, and I didn't want to keep waking up Megan, either. So Jane and I had a sleepover in the living room.

Thank goodness Chris fixed the furnace last night.

Jane only threw up two more times. Only. I never really slept...I was wide awake anytime Jane moved or breathed differently, ready to grab the bowl for her.

It was finally at 4:00 that I fell asleep. I only woke up for a minute when Chris kissed me goodbye before he left, then we stayed asleep until almost 8:00.

No school to wake up for. That was a good thing.

By the time we did officially wake up for the day, I was starving. I called my dad and he came and sat with the girls for a few minutes before he went to work so I could run to McDonald's and get something hot that I didn't have to cook.

Family close who can help. That was a good difference.

Jane keeps telling me she feels fine and to leave her alone, but she isn't moving much. She keeps telling me she wants breakfast, but she rejects any food I offer. I think she's sick.

Of course, I just went in to check on her now, and while she's still laying on the couch watching The Little Mermaid, her cup of juice is now sitting in the windowsill across the room. Hmmm...maybe we're on our way out.

UGH! The flu is going around up here in Logan, I had it last week on top of being pregnant and everything that comes with that. It was not fun, but the plus side is that it only lasted 24 hours.

Boo. Sick kids are hard. Thank goodness for all the small, positive changes that made this time easier.

I'm SO Sorry! A case of the pukes is the WORST. At least, like you said, it was MUCH better than last time - you had more help.

I told Richard that a stomach virus is the WORST type of sickness. I told him I'd rather have strep throat than a case of the pukes. It's just so horrible. But like Megan said, at least it usually only lasts 24 hours. Someone even asked me if I think pregnancy nausea is worse than a stomach flu - I said the stomach flu wins because you NEVER want to eat with that one and you are afraid to try anything. Whereas with pregnancy nausea, if you try to eat something it actually might help.

Hope she feels better soon.
