Break #1: March 13, 2011
Break #2: March 2, 2012
...11 days shy of a year later
Last night, we were dancing and playing around in the living room. At some point, Megan started getting kind of whiny about her arm hurting. She quit playing, and over the next hour or so, cried a lot more. She was favoring her arm--not picking anything up, not putting any weight on it, that sort of thing. Chris and I were just leaving for a date. Megan wasn't completely throwing a fit and nothing obviously horrible had happened, so we told the babysitter to keep an eye on it and call us if it got worse. I figured she would either be fine in the morning or we'd take her to the doctor then.
She wasn't fine in the morning. Again not throwing any kind of fit in pain, but she wouldn't pick up the spoon to eat her cereal, she couldn't get herself onto the couch, and she kept quietly saying, "ow, my arm hurts."
After attending Madisyn's sister's baptism (yay Shelby!), we took Megan to the Instacare for an x-ray. To be fair, we don't actually know for certain whether or not it's broken. The doctor confirmed that yes, there is something wrong since she won't use it. It's not her elbow out of place. The x-ray showed a possible something...but the doctor wasn't confident enough to say yea or nay on a break. If it is, it's very minor. If it isn't, well, it isn't. I don't really know what the plan would be then when she's still in pain now.
For the moment, there is a temporary soft cast on her arm, just for a splint. Tomorrow or Monday we should hear a second opinion from a radiologist and then plan the next step.
Add that to the ever-growing list of our children's medical adventures.
